A Quebec first: Accessible Cultural Tours for Disabled Persons
Montreal, 16 September 2003: Kéroul is pursuing the swing into culture it began two years ago by participating in the 7th edition of the Journées de la culture.
This project, unique to Quebec and initiated by Kéroul, arranges for encounters between professional artists and art lovers with physical, hearing or visual impairments. On Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th of September, Kéroul is offering two different accessible cultural tours. Each tour will take 30 disabled people out to discover something about where and how the various arts are practised in Montreal. The Musée du Château Dufresne, the Cirque du Soleil, the Compagnie Jean Duceppe, and the Société Radio-Canada will be opening their doors to disabled persons.
These two days of accessible culture are being made possible thanks to the collaboration of Montreal’s Société de Transport. On these two days, Kéroul will have the use of STM adapted buses free of charge.
Disabled people represent 15% of Quebec’s population. By its participation in these Journées de la culture, Kéroul upholds the values of democracy and sharing conveyed by this big cultural festival.

Kéroul’s involvement in the cultural field is supported by Quebec’s ministère de la Culture et des Communications.
