Kéroul awards its 13th Mention during the Quebec Tourism 2003 Grand Prix
Kéroul awards the Ramada Plaza / Manoir du casino
Montreal, the 16th of May, 2003 – Today, Mr. André Leclerc, director general and founder of Kéroul, awarded the Ramada Plaza Hotel / Manoir du Casino from Gatineau with the prize for the 13th Kéroul Special Mention. Mrs. Ginette Blanchette, director general of the Ramada Plaza / Manoir du casino, accepted this award with great pleasure. The prize is a work of art created by artist-engraver Richard Lacroix, entitled L’envolée.
In choosing the Ramada Plaza / Manoir du Casino, Kéroul underlines the importance of the management teams’ efforts to create an environment adapted to the needs of persons with restricted physical abilities. As a result, the Ramada Plaza/ Manoir du Casino is the only hotel in the region to have renovated (I would prefer fit up ) 10% of its hotel rooms (17), into accessible rooms. In doing so, the Ramada Plaza/ Manoir du Casino respects the guidelines set by the Québec Construction Code that states that 10% of the rooms, up to a maximum of 20, must offer access without obstacles, including the bathroom. In addition to this, the hotel as equipped the bathrooms in all guest rooms with a grab bar along the bathtub wall.
As important (does it makes sense!?), the Ramada Plaza/Manoir du Casino is proud to announce its services for handicapped persons. The number of adapted rooms is underlined as a competitive advantage in there promotional material.
Persons with restricted physical ability represent 15% of the Canadian population and this segment holds an important economic force in tourism. According to a recent study commissionned by Kéroul and conducted by the department of Urban Studies and Tourism of l’UQÀM and Léger Marketing polling firm, this segment translates into an estimated $300 million in annual economic returns.
