$100,000 to develop the accessibility of tourism and culture in Québec.
Under the honorary chairmanship of Charles Lapointe, CEO of Tourisme Montréal, Kéroul’s 2005 benefit gala brought in a record sum of $100,000. As Mr. Lapointe pointed out in his welcoming remarks: “This evening celebrates the work Kéroul has accomplished since 1979 and lends financial support to the research, information, and promotion activities it carries out to improve accessibility.” Last December 22, the 350 people attending the Montreal Casino Cabaret gave Kéroul a big boost by recognizing the impact of its mission on people with limited abilities and on tourist and cultural industries. It was festive evening enlivened by the silent auction's quiet suspense and the Rock à l'Opéra II show. The event was hosted by Albert Millaire with the always colourful help of Mr. Lio Kiefer, a well known journalist specializing in travel.
A spokesman for Kéroul since 1998, Lio Kiefer was handed the 205 Michel Carpentier award by Mr. André Leclerc, CEO and founder of Kéroul and Mr. Carminé de Benedictis, Hydro Quebec's director of Customer Services for Montreal. With its Michel Carpentier Award Kéroul is honouring Mr. Lio Kiefer's exceptionnal volunteer work as weel as his unfailing commitment to the organization's mission. Lio Kiefer colourrs every occasion he hosts with talk about disabled persons, thus sensitizing his audiences to integration issues. Last november 22, Mr Kiefer hosted Kéroul's annual benefit for the 8th consecutive year.
kéroul also used this special occasion to salute 12 firms and associations fo their steady and active support of this annual fundraising activity at least 7 years, As a sign of appreciation, an honourary plaque was given to each of the following firms: Aéroports de Montréal, Association des propriétaires d'autobus du Québec, the Montreal Casino, hydro-Québec, the ministère du Tourisme du Québec, Parks Canada, Tourisme Montréal, Transat and Via Rail.
