The 19th fund raising gala of the Kiroul organization
Honourary President: Mister Claude Trudel, the Verdun arrondissement mayor and the Montreal Transit Corporation (STM) president
Montreal, November 21, 2008 – The 19th fund raising gala of the Kiroul organization was held in the Montreal Science Center. Presided by Mister Claude Trudel, the Verdun arrondissement mayor and the Montreal Transit Corporation (STM) president, the evening was a full success.
Behind counters representing decorated after Montreal metro stations, well-known chefs offered gourmet dishes to the guests.
The evening Opus gastronomique allowed the guests to discover new flavours while Keroul was able to raise the generous amount of $116,000. According to Mister André Leclerc, the chief executive officer of Keroul, the sale of tickets was done in record time. “The concept of the evening was widely applauded. Many weeks beforehand, all the tickets had been sold which shows without a doubt, the growing interest in Keroul’s cause,” added Mister Leclerc.
Hosted by Mister Gaston L’Heureux, the vice-president of Keroul’s board, the evening went along smoothly accompanied by Similia Group musical interludes. The evening was filled with testimonials, speeches, silent auction, awarding of the Michel Carpentier prize and drawing of prizes of attendance.
The Michel Carpentier prize was awarded to Anna Di Fruscia, the operations and customer service director for Galland Group, to underline her invaluable contribution to Keroul’s mission.
Unable to attend, Raymond Bachand, the Minister of Tourism, was represented by Mrs. Louise Pagé, the assistant minister.
Once again this year, André Leclerc, the chief executive officer, and Jean-Pierre Malo, the president of Keroul’s board, co-signed the Quebec Declaration on the accessibility to tourist activities for people with restricted physical ability, accompanied by seven organizations related to tourism.
- The Association of Youth Hostels of the Saint-Lawrence
- Aventure Écotourisme Québec
- CAA-Quebec
- Conseil de développement du camping au Québec
- Montréal Botanical Garden
- Société des établissements de plein air du Québec (Sépaq)
- Société des musées québécois
This Declaration underlines the rallying strength created by the commitment of those who have signed it to take real measures to foster the accessibility of people with restricted physical ability to tourist activities.
Keroul wants to give its sincere thanks to the organizing committee, in particular to Mrs. Lyne Rowley, MBA – the director of development and marketing at Omnium-Santé, to the advisory committee, to the sponsors and the volunteers without whom the evening would not have been possible.
