Kéroul receives the support of Tourisme Laval and Groupe Galland at the 2008 Awards Gala

André Leclerc, CEO of Kéroul, accepted, on behalf of the organization, a cheque for $35,000 and also got a big surprise from the president of Groupe Galland. From now on, one of the adapted buses in Michel Galland’s fleet will boldly display the Kéroul logo.

Hosted by Tourisme Laval, this year’s awards gala took place before the attentive gaze of hundreds of guests. André Leclerc seized the occasion to spotlight Tourisme Laval’s 20 years of service and to thank its CEO, Andrée Courteau, as well as Michel Galland and all the guests for their generosity and for the support they have all given to Kéroul’s mission.

Kéroul also awarded a prize to Laval’s récréathèque for the improvements it has made in the accessibility of its facilities. Most of the activities in this recreational facility meet Kéroul’s criteria of accessibility. “ It’s owing to people like you who are willing to care and do something about the integration of the physically disabled that society will become more and more award of Kéroul’s mission,” declares André Leclerc.

To sum up, André Leclerc announced to the audience that 50% of the amount received will be used to carry out three accessibility priorities chosen by Laval’s associations of disabled people during Kéroul’s 2004-2007 tour of the region: (1) To sensitize Laval restaurant managers to the accessibility of their infrastructures; (2) to install ramps on Laval’s Société de Transport buses; and (3) to make bicycle paths accessible. Moreover, accessible cultural and tourist attractions will be mentioned in the 2009-2010 edition of the free brochure, The Accessible Road.

Kéroul wants to express its heartfelt thanks to the organizing committee and to all its donors and sponsors for their contribution to the advancement of the organization’s mission.

Next year, Kéroul will participate in a fund-raising event to be held in the Larentides region.
