At the recent Gala des Grands Prix du tourisme québecois, Kéroul’s Chief Executive Officer André Leclerc, together with Kéroul Board member Jean Frenette, handed out the 19th Mention Kéroul award.
Each year, a five-member jury studies participants’ dossiers and evaluates each site’s accessibility. The Mention Kéroul is awarded to the establishment that most distinguishes itself in making its site accessible to persons with restricted physical ability. The award underscores and promotes the efforts of managers who help ensure that each person enjoys their right to tourism and cultural products.
“Since 2005, the management at the Hôtel Universel Rivière-du-Loup has made major investments and opened its doors to persons with reduced mobility,” says Jean Frenette. “An active participant in the community’s well-being, the hotel offers adapted services (in its pool) both to its tourist clientele and to clients of the INTERACTION rehabilitation centre in Rivière du Loup,” adds André Leclerc.
Mr. Gilles Lortie, the hotel’s owner, eagerly accepted the award on behalf of his team. “I am delighted to see that work we have done to improve the lives of our local and tourist clienteles has borne fruit. I am also surprised at the extent to which this work has been appreciated. My thanks to Kéroul’s jury,” he said.
