Kéroul Benefit Gala Raises $98,000
Montreal, October 5, 2010
On October 4, Kéroul threw its 21st annual benefit gala, the Opus Gastronomique, at Montréal’s historic Marché Bonsecours. A prestigious happening for managers from across the province, the event was presided over by Pierre Asselin, Executive Vice President, AECOM Canada East, and hosted by Annie Dufour, reporter for TVA’s Canal Argent.
In a pleasant, jazz-filled setting, the 260 special guests had a chance to taste exquisite dishes concocted by eight renowned chefs, and to enjoy succulent desserts prepared by five masters in the art of pastry.
With a five-course meal, a silent auction, two presentations by actors from the TACcom Group and draws for great prizes, Kéroul’s benefit gala was a hit with attendees. “I would like to thank Pierre Asselin, the members of the Organizing Committee and our sponsors for their generosity,” said André Leclerc, Kéroul’s Founder and CEO. Thrilled with the outcome, Mr. Leclerc wants to assure guests that the event proceeds will largely go toward developing The Accessible Road and the organization’s Welcoming Ways training program.
This evening of fine dining gave guests a chance to discover new flavours and make contacts while supporting the development of accessible tourism and culture for persons with limited physical ability. What’s more, during the welcoming cocktail, three more organizations—the City of Montréal’s Bureau du taxi et du remorquage, the Association des stations de ski du Québec and the Corporation de l'industrie touristique du Québec—signed the Déclaration québécoise concernant l'accessibilité au tourisme pour toutes les personnes ayant une incapacité.
For more than 20 years, the Ministère du Tourisme has considered Kéroul a key player in the area of accessibility for persons with limited physical ability. Kéroul is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make tourism and culture accessible to persons with limited physical ability.
Note: The Déclaration québécoise concernant l’accessibilité au tourisme pour toutes les personnes ayant une incapacité invites tourism industry players to make tangible commitments, in their respective areas of influence and according to their means, to improving the accessibility of tourism to persons with disabilities. The purpose of the declaration is to pool the efforts of all tourism industry players and take a united approach to improving accessibility.
