Launch of The Accessible Road 2011
Claudette Vachon, Communication Department
Montreal, April 2011
Kéroul proudly presents the sixth edition of The Accessible Road, a tourist guide devoted to accessibility. This indispensable tool points people with restricted physical abilities to safe tourism destinations in Québec that offer activities and services adapted to their needs.
A new region is added to the network
The Accessible Road has expanded its network to include the magnificent Mauricie region, a land of forests, rivers and lakes where visitors can enjoy the great outdoors in comfort. Discover authentic cultural and historical sites, such as the Forges du Saint-Maurice National Historic Site of Canada, the Cité de l'énergie, the Musée québécois de culture populaire and the Old Prison of Trois-Rivières, or make a pilgrimage to the Our Lady of the Cape Shrine and visit the Église Notre Dame de la Présentation (the works of Ozias Leduc).
A new collection
The 2011 collection offers Resorts and the Great Outdoors destinations and ideas for Family Getaways, including outdoor recreation, camping and bike trails.
New partners
Parks Canada offers you an adventure in the heart of nature at La Mauricie National Park of Canada. Enjoy wide-open spaces made accessible thanks to specialized facilities and services (campgrounds with adapted parking spaces, washroom facilities and picnic tables) and places for enjoying outdoor activities (campfires, hiking trails, fishing). Plus, you can experience the marine life of the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park by visiting the Parks Canada interpretation and observation centres located in the breathtaking Charlevoix and Manicouagan regions.
What’s more, the Sépaq network offers outdoor activities in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, at the Parc national d’Aiguebelle, and in the Montérégie, at the Îles-de-Boucherville and Mont-Saint-Bruno national parks.
New partners
To bring you even more, Kéroul has teamed up with a travel agency and a tour organizer that can organize trips for travellers looking to join a group or go it alone.
Vacances Tourbec Blainville — Group tours
Working with the carrier Autobus Galland and its fleet of accessible buses, Vacances Tourbec Blainville organizes and accompanies group tours, and can accommodate two people in wheelchairs. To take advantage of this exclusive opportunity, contact: Marcela.Gomez@galland-bus.com.
Tours Chanteclerc — To meet the needs of travel agencies
Tours Chanteclerc promotes some of the hotels from The Accessible Road, in addition to offering à la carte hotel deals and adapted minivan rentals. To take advantage of this exclusive opportunity, go to the Amérique du Nord 2011 section of www.tourschanteclerc.com, where you’ll find the services on offer.
“The Accessible Road is still the leading tool and presents the best that Québec has to offer,” says André Leclerc, Kéroul’s Founder and CEO.
