Kéroul's "Gourmet Laughs" Gala is a serious hit!
Montreal, October 10, 2012
On October 9, Kéroul held the 23rd edition of its benefit gala— its take on a Just for Laughs gala—at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, with Gilbert Rozon, founding president of the Just for Laughs Group, as honorary chairman, and with special guest Pascal Bérubé, Minister for Tourism, in attendance.
The Chair of Kéroul's Board of Directors, Isabelle Ducharme, made a point of mentioning the many partners that played a part in the evening's success, particularly Marc Tremblay, President and CEO of the Palais des congrès de Montréal and Chair of the organizing committee. A total of $134,000 was raised through the benefit; Ms. Ducharme says these proceeds will be used primarily to promote services for its clientele.
Meanwhile, Pascal Bérubé reminded guests that Kéroul has been the leading accessibility consultant to the Ministère du Tourisme for twenty five years. He added that this partnership has been renewed until 2015, which, among other things, will make it possible to promote The Accessible Road in markets outside Québec, and to begin planning for the DESTINATIONS FOR ALL international summit in 2014.
Inspired by the Just For Laughs Gala format, the event was hosted by Jérémy Demay, a nominee in the New Artist of the Year category at the last Gala Les Olivier. The first guest comedian to take the stage was François Morency, followed by Jean-Marc Parent, whose set included a special appearance by André Leclerc, the founder and CEO of Kéroul.
The 350 guests were treated to exquisite gourmet dishes prepared by 10 renowned chefs and their crews. These included Simon Devost-Dulude of Capital Catering, Alain Monod of the University Club of Montreal, Frank Barbusci of Golf Saint-Raphaël, Marco Barone of Hostaria, Johann Atamian of the Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec, Philippe Hamelin of Le Jozéphil,Christopher Batzios of Madisons New York, Leonardo and Stéfano Iacono of Le Muscadin, and Clément Rodarie of Verses.
The cocktail reception featured hors d'oeuvres provided by the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure scatering service. Attendees also enjoyed succulent desserts crafted by nine pastry chefs: Franck Dury-Pavet of Fous desserts, François Pellerin of Le Garde-Manger de François, Johnny Jeulin of Les Moulins La Fayette, Stéphanie Gautier of La Pâtisserie Belge, Jacques Le Guern of Pâtisserie De Gascogne, René Derrien of Pâtisserie Bel-Air, Alfred De Luca of the Pearson School of Culinary Arts, Liliane Colpron of Première Moisson, and brothers JeanRoger and Michel Forget of Pâtisserie Mercier.
Kéroul would like to thank its major sponsors, the Just for Laughs Group, the Palais des congrès de Montréal, Aéroports de Montréal, FinTaxi, AVW-TELAV, Krafix, Plani-Concept Plus, Tourisme Montérégie, Cidrerie Du Minot, Capital Catering, La Grande Dégustation, La Fromagerie Atwater, Océan Communication, Voyager magazine, and Zphoto.ca.
