Mention Kéroul
Since 1991, Kéroul has been shining the spotlight on the work of managers in the tourism and culture industries who offer services adapted to persons with limited physical abilities. Mention Kéroul is a distinction awarded during the annual gala of the Grand prix du tourisme québécois.
In 2004, we innovated by creating an alternation between different categories of tourist and cultural infrastructures. On even years, we will concentrate on tourist and cultural attractions such as parks, farms, zoos, museums, interpretation centres and historical sites. On odd years, we will concentrate on accommodation infrastructures, such as hotels, motels, B & Bs, and inns.
All managers and owners of such places are directly honoured in the Mention Kéroul. Adapting to constant changes of clientele is part of each administrator’s daily challenge. The market segment representing persons with limited physical abilities, which also includes senior citizens, is constantly increasing due to the aging of the population. Therefore, adapting physical structures and accommodations offered becomes a significant competitive advantage. This makes a whole range of tourist and cultural services accessible to one million disabled persons in Québec, as well as to visitors.
Jury
The jury is composed of five members (including the jury president) from private and public sectors with whom Kéroul interacts on a daily basis: disabled persons, tourism, culture and transport. Members of this jury are known for their support of social values of inclusion and openness.
