Pierre Therrien will host the fourth edition of Kéroul’s Opus Gastronomique

Kéroul is pleased to announce that Pierre Therrien, well-known television/radio personality and columnist, will host the organization’s benefit gala in September 2011.
“We are very pleased that Mr. Therrien has agreed to help make our event a success,” André Leclerc, Kéroul’s chief executive officer, said. “His professional presence and his warm voice will set the tone for this annual celebration.”

Kéroul proudly presents the sixth edition of The Accessible Road, a tourist guide devoted to accessibility. This indispensable tool points people with restricted physical abilities to safe tourism destinations in Québec that offer activities and services adapted to their needs.

An International Standardization Effort

The European Union’s current efforts to standardize tourism products and services will have international implications. It is proper and desirable that the authorities in the tourism sector adopt international standards so travellers can feel comfortable. Similarly, tourism and cultural establishments and attractions are expected to comply with standards respecting accessibility for people with disabilities.
That is one of the conclusions of the III International Congress on Tourism for All that took place last November in Valladolid, Spain. Organized by the Fundación ONCE, in collaboration with the European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT), this congress brought together close to 300 delegates from Europe, India, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, Israel, the United States and Quebec.

Kéroul Benefit Gala Raises $98,000

On October 4, Kéroul threw its 21st annual benefit gala, the Opus Gastronomique, at Montréal’s historic Marché Bonsecours. A prestigious happening for managers from across the province, the event was presided over by Pierre Asselin, Executive Vice President, AECOM Canada East, and hosted by Annie Dufour, reporter for TVA’s Canal Argent.
In a pleasant, jazz-filled setting, the 260 special guests had a chance to taste exquisite dishes concocted by eight renowned chefs, and to enjoy succulent desserts prepared by five masters in the art of pastry.

Launch of The Accessible Road 2010 by Kéroul

This is the fifth edition of The Accessible Road. An invaluable tool for planning travel and getaways in Québec, the map offers up a whole network of tourist sites featuring accessible infrastructures. As well, the staff at these locations (900 people) have all received Kéroul's Welcoming Ways training on providing service to persons with restricted physical ability.

The Maison Alphonse Desjardins Receives the 20th Mention Kéroul Award

The Mention Kéroul is a unique award that honours and spotlights a cultural or tourist site made accessible to persons with restricted physical ability. Presented at the Gala des Grands Prix du tourisme québécois 2010, the Mention Kéroul was conferred by a jury of eight people from Québec's community of stakeholders in tourism and culture.
