In June 2016, the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities, began cross-country consultations on crafting new legislation that will transform the way Canada deals with accessibility issues. To this end, on February 23, 2017, Kéroul submitted a brief entitled Yes to an accessible Canada for everyone! Kéroul welcomes the creation of this new legislation and recommends going beyond voluntary standards and awareness-raising activities to include strict provisions aimed at eliminating barriers.

The new legislation must emphasize eliminating barriers and facilitating coordination among various levels of government in Canada. Kéroul put forward sixteen recommendations on ways to make life easier for Canadians with disabilities, and to make tourism and culture accessible to everyone in Canada.
